About Fay Finkel Portnoy
Fay graduated from Salem Normal School, in Salem, Ma, and was a first grade teacher in Mass, until moving to RI.
Fay and her husband, Louis Finkel, adopted two children, Freeman and Naomi.
While her children were growing up, she did not work out of the home, but she was her husband's secretary. Louis was a Public Accountant, and she did all his paperwork at home.
She was President of Haddasah, and on the Board of Directors for Jewish Family Childrens' Service. She helped place Jewish Orphans in homes in Rhode Island.
After her first husband Louis died, she went to work for the State of Rhode Island, as a clerk typist; eventually she moved up to working for the WINN program, finding jobs for people on Welfare, which brought her great rewards. She loved this job.
She married her second husband, Max Portnoy, and they enjoyed 7 happy years together.
Fay was a most wonderful, giving, loving lady, always smiling, and doing for others.
She was loved by all...and loved her entire family dearly.
