Certification from the Countess.

I, Sylvia Polexina, Dowager Countess Zierotin, née Countess Waldstein, and Lady of Ivanovice, announce and confirm herewith for anyone who might want to know, that the bearer of this writing, Felix Sachs, born in Trebitsch, was active for eight years in my lordship of Ivanovice, to wit in the town [of Ivanovice] in the Jewish community under my official protection, as a Bader (see below) and in this time practiced his profession profitably for both Christians and Jews with satisfaction and pleasure, honestly, faithfully and diligently, that not only my subjects, but I myself also were well satisfied with him. However, since he has now decided to seek his fortune elsewhere, he has humbly asked me to give him a written certificate which in view of his diligent record, I not only could not refuse, but give him the highest recommendation wherever, today or tomorrow he would register himself, according to his station. Note: A Bader operated bath houses, and also practiced rudimentary medicine, mostly bloodletting, and sometimes also was the local barber.
