About Ferdinand Timm

GEDCOM Note

Ferdinand Timm, unlike his older brother Julius, seems to have been a much more settled person, apparently remaining in his native West Prussia for the first 48 years of his life. He and his wife, Mary Werner, resided in Blandau, today known in Polish as Bledowo, a village in the administrative district of Gmina Pluznica, within Wabrzezno County, Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship, in north-central Poland, some 20 miles north of Torun. Presumably hearing from Julius about exciting opportunities in America, Ferdinand and his wife finally immigrated to the United States, arriving in the port of Baltimore in mid-summer of 1914, just in time to avoid the destruction of World War I, which began in August of 1914. Ferdinand and Mary then followed Julius and Amelia to Alpena, Michigan. Like his brother Julius, Ferdinand fathered at least 14 children. Both Julius and Ferdinand died in the year 1948 in the Alpena area.
