Ullmann, Florentine Fanny
jew., * Hahn, district of Westerburg, July 7, 1901, + Auschwitz, extermination camp in 1942,, living in Mannheim,, deportation :, from Baden-Palatinate-Saarland, October 22, 1940, Gurs, internment camp, August 6, 1942, Drancy, Collection camp, August 10, 1942, Auschwitz, concentration and extermination camp,, fate: declared dead She came from a Jewish merchant family who had been established in Westerburg since the 18th century and was wealthy until the Third Reich. Flora worked as a clerk in the parental business "Albert Ullmann & Co", popularly known as "Korschmanns". The company dissolved in late 1937. Between 1926 and 1931, the Westerburger moved to Mannheim and worked there as a secretary. On March 15, 1934, Flora married the Westerwald Arthur Herz in Mannheim, born on February 22, 1894 in Obertiefenbach, Limburg district. Arthur Herz was a merchant and owner of a manufactured goods store. Small iron parts, painting supplies and much more were offered for sale. Daughter Eva was born on June 25, 1935. The small family was allowed to remain in Mannheim for only a short time., On October 22, 1940, the Nazis struck in Mannheim. In the morning, completely unprepared, Jews were chased out of their apartments and houses in 1972, loaded onto trucks and taken to the train station, including Flora with her husband Arthur and five-year-old daughter Eva. On trains in which the Jews were penned up like sheep, it went in a four-day journey to, Oloron-Sainte-Marie in the department of Basses-Pyrenees in southern France. Since July 1940 there had been numerous German emigrants who had been interned after the Wehrmacht attacked Belgium and France. Flora was transferred from Camp de Gurs to Drancy on August 6, 1942. From there she was deported to the Auschwitz extermination camp with Transport 17 on August 10, 1942, where she was presumably gassed immediately after the train arrived. Arthur Herz was deported from Camp Les Milles to Auschwitz a few days later on August 17, 1942, and was presumably sent straight to the gas upon arrival. Flora was just 41 years old, her husband Arthur 46 years old, oo Arthur Herz ,, Source: Kreisblatt for the district of Westerburg, 1901, Civil News: Births, yadvashem.org, Westerwälder Zeitung, Tuesday, October 26, 2010, page 21 , Westerwälder Zeitung, Friday, October 22, 2010, page 19
