"My granny did tell me that her mum (Flora) was a strong woman. She and Victor made their life all by themselves in Vienna after leaving home. She was selling insurances and he was working at a bank. They were not rich but seemed to have had enough to give their daughters a good education. Education, Music, Literature and Theatre seemed to have been a priority. Flora was good at making Apfelstrudel (an austrian sweet dish) and her passion was Meindl coffe. My granny spoke very fondly of her dad (Victor) who used to take her to the museums in Vienna or to the Prater (fair). Victor served the Austrian army in the 1st world war. When Erich (son of Flora and Victor) died of the spanish flu Flora turned white over night. He must have been a genius kid from what Edith and my granny said. He could read at the age of 3 and play the piano !...."
