<p>Faraggi, Ika (née Flore Benveniste) 1925 - 2015 Le 1er mars 2015, à Montréal, après une longue maladie, Ika Faraggi s'est éteinte paisiblement alors que son mari et principal dispensateur de soins, Maurice Faraggi, lui tenait la main. Épouse de Maurice Faraggi, mère de Vicky-Anne et Ralph Emmanuel (Anna Maria Cerulli), grand-mère d'Alanna Kirstin Klassen (Tawfik Jamjoum), de Melissa Grassi (Pasquale Tropea), de feu Miranda Grassi, de Michael Grassi, de Gabrielle Faraggi, de Laurence Faraggi, d'Andrew Maurice Lorant et d'Alix Faraggi ainsi que arrière-grand-mère d'Aya et de Yara. Elle laisse également son frère Jose Benveniste, sa femme Marie et leurs descendants. Survivante de la Seconde Guerre mondiale,Ika et sa famille immédiate ont évité la déportation vers les camps de concentration grâce à la providence et à sa maîtrise de la langue allemande (parmi cinq autres langues). Ika et Maurice ont immigré au Canada en 1951 et adopté le Canada comme leur pays d'adoption pour son ouverture et la possibilité qu'il leur a offertde construire une nouvelle vie. Passionnée pour l'art sous toute ses formes (tant classique que contemporain) quel que soit son expression ou le medium; un gourmet raffinée et aventurière en cuisine, Ika fut formée en design de mode, elle s'est impliquée de tout coeur auprès de l'exécutif des comités bénévoles de l'Orchestre dechambre McGill, de l'Orchestre symphonique de Montréal (OSM) et du Musée des Beaux-Arts de Montréal (ancienne présidente). Jusqu'aux tous derniers mois de sa vie, même si elle n'était plus très mobile, Ika est demeurée au fait des nouvelles nationales et internationales et des tendances artistiques, puisqu'elle satisfaisait son avide soif de connaissance grâce à son indispensable ordinateur portable et à Internet. La famille tient à exprimer sa reconnaissance à l'ensemble du personnel du Centre Hospitalier St-Mary's qui s'est patiemment occupé d'Ika au cours des dernières années de sa vie. Beloved wife of Maurice Faraggi, mother of Vicky-Anne and Ralph Emmanuël (Anna Maria Cerulli), grandmother of Alanna Kirstin Klassen (Tawfik Jamjoum), Melissa Grassi (Pasquale Tropea), the late Miranda Grassi, Michael Grassi, Gabrielle Faraggi, Laurence Faraggi, Andrew Maurice Lorant, Alix Faraggi and great-grandmother to Aya and Yara. She also leaves behind her brother Jose Benveniste, his wife Marie and their descendants. A survivor of WWII, Ika and her immediate family eluded deportation thanks to their resourcefulness and to her mastery of the German language (among five others). Ika and Maurice immigrated to Canada in 1951 and embraced Canada as their adopted country for its openness and the opportunity it offered them to build a new life. Passionate for the arts (classical or contemporary) in allexpressions and media, a refined gourmet and adventurous chef, Ika who trained in fashion design, involved herself whole-heartedly with the executive of the volunteer committees of the McGill ChamberOrchestra, the Montreal Symphony Orchestra (OSM) and the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts (past President). Until the last months of her life, even if she was no longer mobile, Ika remained highly informed on the topics of National and World affairs and artistic trends, as she satisfied her avid thirst for knowledge thanks to her indispensable laptop and the internet. The family expresses its gratitude to the entire staff at St-Mary's Hospital who patiently cared for Ika in the last years of her life.
