Florence Nations Florence Parker Nations, 90, of Joe Branch Road, Whittier, died Wednesday, May 17, 2006, at Skyland Care Center after an extended illness.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 20, at Wilmot Baptist Church, of which she was a member, with the Rev. Johnny Ray Davis and Max Cochran officiating. Burial was in Nations Creek Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Joe Ward, Brad Burns, Harry Steele, Mike Bumgarner, Johnny Nations and Doug Denny.
A native of Swain County, she had lived most of her life in Jackson County. She enjoyed flowers, cooking and quilting. She had worked at Dayco, and had also worked as a cook and in textile mills. She was the last surviving child of the late Mathias and Lilly Josephine Bridges Parker.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Walter Nations, who died in 1997; four brothers; one sister; and two granddaughters.
Surviving are one son, Pat Nations of Whittier, one granddaughter; and two great-grandsons.
Melton-Riddle Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
