Florence Wishner

Florence Wishner TAMPA, Fla. Florence Wishner passed away at age 86 on December 22, 2009, after a long illness. Widow of her beloved husband of 57 years, Jerome; devoted mother of Steven and his wife, Lauri (of Sudbury, Mass.), and Abbe (deceased); loving sister of Jack and sister-in-law of Marilyn; adoring grandmother of Andrew, Sara, Scott and Stephanie; and great-grandmother to Justin; thoughtful aunt and cousin to many. She was born and raised in New York City, but lived much of her life in Merrick, N.Y., and Tampa. Florence and Jerry were avid travelers, visiting much of the world together; even after Jerry's passing, Florence, who loved people and was very social, found new traveling companions with whom to continue her exploration of the world. Always hungry for knowledge, Florence relished attending university classes regularly until her passing. Forever sharp witted, she maintained her sense of humor as a means to help manage her pain until her last days. She will be forever loved by her family, fondly remembered by her friends, and greatly missed by all. Memorial gifts may be directed to the American Cancer Society or Dana-Farber.
