About Flossie Brittain
Services for Flossie Williford Brittain will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 24, 2011, at the chapel of Hixson Brothers, Pineville, with Reverend Robert Tarver officiating. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Ball, under the direction of Hixson Brothers, Pineville.
Visitation will be Monday, May 23, 2011, at Hixson Brothers, Pineville, from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Mrs. Brittain was born August 25, 1915, to the union of Riley & Samantha Bennett Williford and passed from this life on Sunday, May 22, 2011, at the Summit Retirement Center, Alexandria.
She was an avid fisherwoman. She enjoyed the outdoors, especially tending her flower & vegetable gardens. Mrs. Brittain had a great zeal for life and love for family.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Irving L. Brittain; son, Irving Lynwood "Woody" Brittain; grandson, Kevin Brittain; granddaughter, Rachel Rayford; and her 10 brothers and sisters.
Those left to cherish her memory include her sons, Roger H. Brittain & wife Linda of Centerpoint, Douglas Brittain & wife Diane of Pineville, Donald Brittain & wife Janice of Pineville; daughters, Iris B. Rayford of Alexandria, Carolyn Brittain of Alexandria; twelve grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Robert A. Rayford, Jr., Randall Wilson, Stacey Brittain, William Brittain Anthony Brittain, and Carey Brittain.
