Notes for Francois Rousset, (Pierre & Jeanne Chartier): His mother, Jeanne Chartier (one of the "King's Daughters", page 142), was born about 1643 in the parish of Saint-Jean in Nemours (archdiocese of Sens), Île-de-France, the daughter of Louis Chartier and Mathurine Caron or Cacou. After her father's death, Jeanne left for Canada in 1669, bringing with her a dowry of goods estimated at 200 livres (about $2,150 in the USA in the year 2000). On 03 November 1669, Jeanne married Pierre Rousset dit Beaucourt in Sainte Famille, Île d'Orléans and was given the King's Gift of 50 livres.Neither spouse could sign the marriage contract drawn up 08 October by notary Becquet. His father, Pierre, was born about 1643 in La Rochebeaucourt (near Nontron, diocese of Périgueux), Périgord, the son of Pierre Rousset and Bathe Durand. He arrived in Canada in September 1665 as a soldier with the Maximy Company of the Carignan Regiment. His parents settled at Sainte Famille, where their son Charles was baptized 17 January 1671, followed by Marie-Anne (22 January 1673), Francois (20 January 1675) and Nicolas (30 May 1677). Pierre Rousset dit Beaucourt died 11 January 1695 at the Hôtel Dieu de Québec. On 24 January 1701, notary Roger drew up a marriage contract between Jeanne and Jean-Pierre Forgues (widower of File du Roi Marie Robineau), but it was later annulled. On 10 September 1702, Jeanne married Francois Lavergne at Québec City. Francois was previously (1671) married to File du Roi Francoise Lefrancois, with whom he had six children. François and Jeanne lived at Montmagny, but had no children together. Jeanne Chartier died 30 December 1708 and was buried the next day at Montmagny. In 1709, François married File du Roi Renée Biret.
