About Frances Ada Bury
Dear Aurenna and Chuck
Was pleased to get your letter about a little girl soon to enter the world.
I had 2 girls before a baby boy came along and they had to have a schedule of
whose turn it was to hold the baby. That continued until there was another
little baby and they were always a wonderful help and so excited about every
new thing that the babies did. So you can see why I am partial to having
little girls first.
Wish I had some good info about family names, but this is the little that I
have. My mom was born in England & was Ada Norcross (no middle names for
both parents) and my other grandmother was Frances Bury. I was named Ada
Frances until my mom objected to being called "big Ada". My other
grandmother was named Lydia and that was a first choice and glad that they
changed it. My only other suggestion is our "famous" Aunt Elizabeth Bury who
was in Turkey in the 1910 time frame and was in charge of saving 5,000
orphens by moving them to a different country. There was "fusses" between
the countries there. She was a registered nurse and in charge of the nurses
in various hospitals and one thing that I remember from her document is that
she had to have a guard sleep outside her door for safety. She developed a
number of health problems from being in that country, but died of cancer as
so many of the Bury relatives. She never married and was always helping
people financial and other efforts. I met her when I visited New England and
she took me to Boston and we raced over everything to see while I was about
20 years old. I now feel a strong desire to revisit it again and we have a
number of relatives buried in Pawtucket, RI
We are sorry for the late answer. We were away for a few days and the
temperature was much cooler just 2 1/2 hours away which is 6,000' and it goes
higher. Your dad can tell you that there are mountains (not all super high)
all around us and that is why Phoenix is called a "valley".
We will be leaving in a couple of weeks to do our relative and friend tour
that covers the whole west coast to Washington and could take almost 4 weeks.
We will have a lap top with us to get any e-mails and will be looking
forward to hearing about the
coming event. I don't have your complete address and would certainly
appreciate getting it.
Always, Frances and Loren
For your info. I had 2 girls a boy and a girl, My grandmother had 2 girls, a
boy and a girl, my mother had 2 girls, a boy and a girl. My sister had 3
boys, & your dad had 3 boys.
