"My Father (Levi Morgan Dick) later married my mother, who had previously been married and divorced from a man named Palmer, because he became a professional gambler. They had two boys, Jim (James) and Will (William) and a daughter Em (Emily). She supported them by taking in washing until she married my father in August of 1874" - Ella Faith (Dick) autobiography, May 30, 1975.
"Our mother died of a six month's pregnancy, when I was four years old and my sister (Gertrude) was two years old. She was 37"
