Frances Lyon

Frances was beautiful. She sang and danced in all the Our Lady of Lourdes musical productions. Then she died of consumption [TB] at age 24.

Her employer had her carry bags of radium from Orange to New York. It's thought that her early death was due to the extremely dangerous radioactive material.

Many women in the Oranges worked at the radium factory on Lakeside, where they hand-painted the dials on clocks. The women would moisten the paintbrushes in their mouths.
