Frances Timberlake

Now for Richard and Miss Frances Harfield... The story about "Lady" Harfield being one of Queen Ann's court seems questionable. With the children of Richard and Frances being born after ca 1754, it seems plausable that Richard was indeed born sometime around 1725 to 1735. However, Queen Ann died in 1714. If Richard and Frances were indeed alive during that time, and being of the age of marriage, they would have been about 60 when their children were born.

The story that this Richard came over during the 1730's has been thrown around and may make more sense. However, nothing has been presented to back it up.

Another story has been presented that Frances Harfield might be the daughter of Michael and Grace Harfield. If anyone has any information on ANY Harfield's in and around Middlesex and New Kent Counties during this time, it might provide a clue as to Frances Harfield's identity.

One disclamer I must post here is that I am not trying to upset anyone who has grown up with this family lore (handed down through the generations). My job, like everyone elses, is to track down these illusive Timberlakes and provide correct information that will help everyone in the group locate their families.

To summarize what I presently believe on the basis of the secondary sources, Richard and Frances (Harfield) Timberlake were both born approximately in 1729.Their parents are unknown.They were probably married in England (maybe around 1750) and came to Virginia shortly thereafter.They had eleven children, namely, Richard, Henry, Benjamin, John, James, William, David, Harfield (a male), Elizabeth, Sally, and Nancy.I
