Coy was born at Thetford, in the county of Norfolk, in the year 1886, and was the only son of Mr. and Mrs. F. G. Coy, of Portsmouth. His apprenticeship days were spent in the Portsmouth Dockyard. After completing his apprenticeship he joined the White Star Line, being appointed sixth engineer in the Oceanic in August, 1907, and later being promoted to fifth and then assistant fourth engineer. He was transferred to the Olympic and later to the Titanic. Mr. Coy, who held a second-class certificate, resided at Southampton, and left a widow, but no children. Contributors
