About Francis (Frank) Charles Aziere

From the Manuscript "The Descendants of Francis Aziere", Generation Four:

The Courier-Democrat, Seneca, Kansas writes:

Francis Charles Aziere was born Feb. 4, 1870, and died of consumption Jan. 26, 1908. Mr. Aziere was the oldest son of a family of ten children born to Mr. and Mrs. Charles Aziere at the homestead twelve miles north of Seneca on Turkey Creek. The father is dead; the eighth child, Mrs Josie McCaffrey, died six months before her father's death; all the children are married, the old homestead sold and the mother left to live alone at her home in Seneca. When death came Sunday morning, the wife and the mother wre alone with Mr. Aziere. He was sitting up, waiting for the summons, and quietly gave up life's battle without pain or struggle. Father Cyril OSB had on Saturday, the previous day, administered to him the last rites of the church. The mother's great consolation is that she was on hand when her son's life went out, and with Job of old Testament history can say "The Lord gave and the Lord hath taken away; Blessed be the name of the Lord". Mr. Aziere was Baptized on 4/10/1870 and his life was true to the principles of the Catholic Church. He was a member of St. Joseph's Society at St. Benedict, and later in Seneca. He was married by Father Pirmine, OSB in St. Mary's Church at St. Benedict, Sept. 1, 1891 to Miss Annie McCaffrey, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward McCaffrey, whose homestead was on Clear Creek, five miles from the Aziere homestead, where the daughter was born. One child, Frances Alice, came to them, but death took its young life as a new-born babe during their early residence in Seneca.

At marriage, Mr. Aziere rentd the old "John Sly" place of his father. In a few years he bought a farm for himself in the neighborhood, and the young couple were industrious and successful. But tuberculosis had been communicated to him in youth, and four years ago he was instinctively warned to quit the farm and move to Seneca with a hope that the less strenuous life would improve his health and prolong his days. He moved into town in Nov. 1904 and bought a residence, and later built their pretty cottage home. Mr. and Mrs. Aziere spent the winter of 1906-7 at Albuquerque, NM, where old time heath seemed restored; and being homesick for friends and Seneca, they came back. The germs of disease had found lodgement, however, and the old-time weakening soon became apparent and bafled all effort of medical skill at home and elsewhere. Mrs. Aziere, the wife, showed courage and devotion in every attempt, and relatives and neighbors were kind and helped to the last.

Mr. Aziere leaves to mourn, his wife, the mother, Mrs Mary Aziere and these brothers and sisters, all of whom accompanied by husbands and wives attended the funeral: Mrs. Mary Casey, Jerome Aziere, Mrs. Ellen McCaffrey, Mrs. Jane Smith, Mrs. Lizzie Helset, John Aziere, Mrs. Della Winkler, of Seneca and Mrs Ida Stein of Denton.

The funeral service was held from STS Peter and Pauls Church Tuesday morning and interment made in the Catholic cemetery north of Seneca. Father Cyril, OSB said the requiem High Mass and blessed the grave.
