Francois le Grange (1962 - 2013)
Brief overview:
Francois (51), was beaten, then bludgeoned to death with a stone door stop, which crushed his skull, at his home in Le Marais, Pretoria, GP, on 19th May 2013.
Francois had invited Dean Vermeulen and Ben Strydom for coffee. They smoked dagga before going to his house. Vermeulen and Strydom had made plans to start an argument with Francois, rob him, and steal his car and sell it.
Strydom showed Vermeulen the door-stopper before hitting the man several times over the head.
Vermeulen pleaded not guilty and was convicted of robbery and given 12 years in jail. Strydom was sentenced to a total of 30 years imprisonment, of which he has to serve an effective 15, after he pleaded guilty.
