public profile
Worked as a printer first the Public Ledger, and then at the Philadelphia Inquirer after it bought the Ledger.
In 1940, was living in Colorado Springs, CO - in the Union Printers Home and TB Sanatorium. Union was the International Typographers Union. The home still exists today, though the Union has just recently sold it: http://www.unionprintershome.org/wordpress/
Unsure if he worked after returning to Philadelphia…was there in 1942 to fill out a draft card, but listed as unemployed.
Did not appear to live with his family at time of death. He lived in Upper Darby - could have been a rest home or hospice. Strange item in Billboard Magazine noted he died in Camden on 2 December…but obit and death certificate say in Philadelphia.
Died of TB like his sister, Susan Markward Edkins
Not on find-a-grave in Fernwood.
