The many friends of Frank Spooner, 64, a well known resident of Ogdensburg, were shocked to learn of his death which occurred suddenly yesterday morning at 9 o'clock as a result of a stroke at his home, 515 Montgomery street.
Mr. Spooner was employed as head painter at the state hospital and performed his usual duties on Saturday. He appeared to be in good health when he retired that evening but was stricken early yesterday morning and despite the efforts of physicians who were called soon passed away.
Mr. Spooner was born in Ogdensburg and passed his life here. He was employed by James J. Doyle for a number of years and upon the retirement of Thomas H. Richards a few years ago was appointed head painter at the State hospital. He was an industrious, honorable citizen and possessed the respect and esteem of all who knew him. He was a member of St. John's church.
Mr. Spooner is survived by his widow, two sons, Arthur and James of Ogdensburg; three daughters, Mrs. George Fournier, Mrs. William Methot and Mrs. Edward Bouchey of Ogdensburg, and four brothers, George of Malone, Eli of Trumansburg, William of Cleveland and Henry of Ogdensburg.
