About Franklin P Erwin
Y-DNA of a paternal descendant: E-P277 (tested by Genographic)
We thought Cato and Angelina Erwin were the parents of Frank (husband of Lucy Dudley) but discovery of a document, in which it is said he was born in Asheville, has cast doubt.
There are two possible families that were from Burke Co. North Carolina 1. Wilson Erwin had Frank Erwin, a grandson age 1, living with him in 1880, in Burke Co. This is close to, but not in, Ashville. 2. Filmore Erwin was living in Ashville in 1880 and had a baby of the right age, but not named Frank. Possibly Lorenzo? Filmore was a cook and born in Burke Co. Though the right age to be a son of Wilson, his father was Adam Erwin.
Frank may have been in the Navy in 1900, a messmate on the USS Wabash. The name matches perfectly various subsequent records "Franklin P Erwin"
In favor ... Lucy's sister Della's daughter Beatrice was born in Boston in 1898, so Lucy and Frank could have been introduced by Della. Question - was there a shipmate named Duggins? If this was Frank, the Burke Co. possibilities hold, whereas Cato's son Frank was still at home in 1900.
