Mr. Franklin Tinney
Franklin Stephen Tinney, 81, of Gainesville, Fla., died on Dec. 6 at North Florida Regional Medical Center in Gainesville, Fla. after an extended illness.
He was born in Frederick and moved to Gainesville, Fla. in 1959. He was retired from Suntec Paints, Inc. where he served as secretary/treasurer for 34 years. He enjoyed woodworking, chess, fishing, and spending time with his family and grandchildren. He was a decorated U.S. Army veteran of World War II where he served in the 242nd Army Air Force Base Unit. He was a member of the Brooker Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Martha Rimes Tinney of Gainesville, Fla.; sons, William S. "Steve" Tinney of Newberry, Fla., Bruce F. Tinney of Flemington, Fla.; daughters-in-law, Sharman Lashley Tinney of Newberry, Fla., Mary Jo Bourgeois Tinney of Flemington, Fla.; four grandchildren, Treyson R. Tinney of Williston, Fla., Benjamin J. Tinney of Gainesville, Fla., Dallas S. Tinney of Newberry, Fla., and Jason T. Tinney of Flemington, Fla.; and sisters, Louise Tinney Garrett and Edna Tinney Wachter, both of Frederick.
There will be a celebration of life Saturday, Jan. 15, at 2 p.m. at the Brooker Baptist Church with the Rev. Al Paulson Sr. conducting the service.
Arrangements are by Milam Funeral and Cremation Services, Gainesville, Fla.
