About Fred Chandler Wyman

Fred Chandler Wyman,son of Fred Darling Wyman and Delis Hersey Woodbury, was born Aug. 5, 1898 in Manchester, Hillsborough Co., New Hampshire. He married with FLORA MAE BANFILL, dau. of John S. Banfill and Cora M. O'Dell. She was born 1901 in Conway, Carroll Co., New Hampshire. They wed Oct. 23, 1920 in Porter, Maine (he was residing there, a lumberman; she was residing in Conway, NH where she was a mill hand). He was aged 22, she 19 at the time they wed. He died 1949; she died Nov. 1979. Both buried at Greenlawn Cemetery, Keene, Cheshire Co., New Hampshire. Children all born in NH.He died Dec. 1, 1949; electrocuted while working on PSNH power lines.

Children were: Dorothy Mae (6/29/1922-6/29/1922), Cherolyn & Chandler (1927) , Jean Delia (12/12/1935-4/6/1937), and Joan (1936).

OBIT: Fred C. Wyman, 51, of 69 Needle Street, foreman for the Public Service Company of New Hampshire, was electrocuted about 10 o'clock this morning while working on high votage wires on Island Street.

My Wyman and other employees of the company were working on and about one of the transmission line towers off Island Street where high tension wires are being changed over to the new power plant of the company. The wires carry 13, 000 volts. The tower is on the west side of the river nearly opposite the plant of the New England Box Company.

After Mr. Wyman came in contact with the high voltage line his body fell and lodged on the wires. Fireman were summoned to assist with the removal.

According to Dr. Walter H. Leary, medical referee, there were two burns on Mr. Wyman's right hand. He was wearing a thin glove. Efforts on the part of firemen and police to revive the victim were futile.

The body was taken to the Charles F. Fletcher funeral home, 33 Marlboro Street.

Mr. Wyman had been employed by the Public Service company about 25 years, was born in Manchester on Aug. 5, 1898, a son of the late Fred D. and Delia (Woodbury) Wyman.

Besides his wife, Mr. Wyman leaves three children, Chandler, Cherolyn and Joan; five brothers, James T., Paul S., and Clair E. Wyman, all of Keene....Carl W. Wyman of Alton Bay, and S. Russell Wyman of Portland, Maine; four sisters, Mrs. John D. Donovan and Mrs. Roger A. Thayer of Keene, Mrs. Charles Gain of Steep Falls, Maine and Mrs. Ellery Smith of Portsmouth; and several nephews and nieces. Another brother Earl Wyman, died on Nov. 20 of this year.
