About Frederick Charles Davies
Fred Davies was born in Melbourne, Australia, the eldest child of Valentine Davies and Flora Fullarton but grew up on the Atherton Tableland in far north Queensland. He moved south to Brisbane in 1940. He enlisted in the Army in WW2 and became one of the 'Rats of Tobruk' but was taken prisoner and listed as 'missing in action'. He survived and arrived back in Australia at the end of the war. He died in Mareeba, Queensland in 1998.
