from Mr. Schallenberg’s obituary, Franklin County Tribute, nd: Son of F. W. Schallenberger [sic] Frederick W. Schallenberg, pioneer citizen of Franklin county, died at his home on Little Meramec river, 7 August 1914. Born in Hanover, Germany, he immigrated, landing at Philadelphia, went by stage to the Ohio river and then by boat to St Louis. Mr. Schallenberg was married four times and to these unions were born ten children, six girls and four boys. He was survived by his wife, and children William, Henry, Fred, Edward, Louise, Alvena, Emma, Minnie and Annie. A half-brother, E.A. Lindement [sic], of Clayton, Mo., also survived.
Birth in Hanover remains problematic but must be considered.
