HEDRICK – Mrs. Freece B Swearingen, 80, of Hedrick, died today at 6 a.m. at the Jefferson Square Manor in Ottumwa.
She was born Dec. 16, 1886, at Sumner, Ill., the daughter of Thomas J. and Elizabeth Denison Baldwin. She married John Burton Swearingen on Aug. 25, 1911, at Wahoo, Neb. He died Feb. 4, 1960. [sic - According to John's obituary, he died Feb. 5, 1960.]
She was a resident of the Hedrick community most of her life and was a member of the Hedrick Methodist Church and a 50-year member of the Hedrick Order of Eastern Star.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Helen Daniels of Ottumwa and Mrs. Marjorie Gambell of Hedrick; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be Monday at 1:30 p.m. at the Fremont Funeral chapel with the Rev. Robert Ellis of the Hedrick Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Brooks Cemetery.
