Florence: Fritz Johnson age 88, of Florence, Wisconsin passed away Saturday April 24, 2004 at the Florence Villa Nursing Home in Florence.

Fritz was born on September 19, 1915 in Florence, Wisconsin son of the late John and Alma (Bjorkman) Johnson.

Fritz grew up in the Florence area and attended the Harding school. He married Elaine Hartman on July 26, 1941 in Iron Mountain. They first lived in Harding on a farm until moving to Florence in 1943 were they have resided ever since. Fritz was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Chuch in Florence and the County Clerks Association. Fritz served as the Town of Florence Treasurer and later served as Florence County Clerk for 28 years.

Fritz was known for being able to fix nearly everything. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and the outdoors, building bird houses, and especially tending to his lawn which everyone admired.

Fritz is survived by his loving wife Elaine. One son Norman (Diane) Johnson of Dyckesville, WI. One daughter Garnetta (Terrence) Lazansky of Crivitz, WI., Two sisters, Jarda Friberg of Florence and Ann Snell of Ocala, FL., Four grandchildren, Marta, Michael, Steve, and Shelli. One great grandson Zachary and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Thursday from 10AM-11AM at the Jacobs-Lundholm Funeral Home in Florence, Wisconsin. Funeral services will be Thursday 11AM at the Jacobs-Lundholm Funeral Home. Pastor Doug Johnson will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Florence.
