They had children (see his family group) all born in Patrick County, Virginia, in the period 1816-1823. Gabriel Bowling bought some land in Patrick County, Virginia, in 1813 and Marvel Bolling (Fh4653) was a witness. I believe Marvel is possibly the brother of Gabriel. (910) Deed Book 4 Page 70, Patrick County, Virginia, December 19th, 1813. This indenture made this 19th day of December 1813 between Henry Thompson of the county of Patrick and state of Virginia of the one part and Gabriel Bolling of said county of the other part. Recorded: Patrick County April Court 1814. (910) Gabriel Bowling married second 1849, Franklin County, Virginia, Mrs. Catherine S. (Lesuer) Lavinder, widow of John Lavinder, Sr.. Gabriel Bowling died about 1868 in Floyd County, Virginia. (910) There is speculation that Marvel (Markus) Bowling (Fh4635 or Fh4653) was Gabriel Bowling/Bolling's (Fh232) brother, but I have found nothing conclusive. Marvel was a witness to an 1811 deed transaction for Gabriel in Patrick County, Virginia. Marvel & Gabriel both named their first son, John W. I received a letter from Verona Hosack from Detroit several years ago and she said she had copied some history of Knox County, Indiana and that there was a Gabriel Bolon Sr. & Jr. living there around 1800, but sold their property in 1807 and moved out. She said they may have moved to Virginia, which would be close to the time when Gabriel appeared in Patrick County, Virginia. (910) William M. Bowling (Bouldin) (Fh754) and Jerusha Wingfield, had a son Gabriel who married Catherine Lavinder October 15, 1849. Catherine Sally LeSueur Lavinder was the daughter of Martell and Elizabeth Bacon LeSueur. No children (1247) Gabriel Bowling, birth and death dates are unknown, he was the son of William M. Bowling and Jerusha Wingfield , Gabriel Bowling married October 15, 1849, Catherine Sally LeSueur Lavinder, born April 08, 1800. Gabriel and Catherine Sally LeSueur Lavinder were married in Franklin County, Virginia. Surety was Grandison B. LeSueur who was Catherine's brother. (1249) This bond is at the courthouse in Rocky Mount, Virginia which is known as Franklin County, Virginia. This one is on Gabriel Bowling or Bolling. I will attempt typing the wording from the bond, but some words are hard to decipher. "Know all men by these presents, That we Gabriel Bolling and Grandison B. LeSueur are ?? and firmly bound unto the Commonwealth of Virginia in the just and full sum of one hundred and fifty dollars the ?? payment whereof, ?? and truly to be made, we bind ourselves, our heirs, executors and administors jointly and ??, firmly by these presents. Sealed with our and dated this 15 day of October 1849.The Condition of the above Obligation is such, That whereas the above bound Gabriel Bolling hath obtained from the Clerk of the county court of Franklin, a license for his inter marriage with Catherine S. Lavinder of said county. Now if there shall be no lawful cause to obstruct the said marriage then the above obligation to be void, else, to remain in full force and virtue." his Gabriel X Bolling (Seal) mark G.B. Lesueur (Seal) (1249) I wonder if there might have been 1 or 2 other brothers for Gabriel and Marvel, namely William and James Jr. They all were in Patrick County, Virginia, at the same time and they appear in various combinations on each others business and family transactions.
