About Gabriel Mullins

A Patriot of the American Revolution for VIRGINIA with the rank of Private. DAR Ancestor # A082708

1777 Gabriel Mullins (at 19) joined the Continental Army and served as a private/minuteman during the Revolutionary War. During his tenure with the Continental Army, he served at the POW barracks about four miles west of Charlottesville, Albemarle Co., VA. There he guarded interred British and Hessian Prisoners of War (Burgoyne's troops) who were captured during the Battle of Saratoga in NY. He served under Capt. Gardner, Col. Lindsay's Regiment of Virginia. 1779 They lived in Westmoreland Co., VA. 1790 The emigrated to Madison Co., KY; 1810 They moved to Pendleton Co., KY. March 1833 Gabriel Mullins was granted a pension for Revolutionary War service. 1939 A government marker was placed at his grave by the DAR, Pendleton Chapter.

Gabrial Mullins, a Revolutionary Soldier, resided here, when he came from Virginia to Kentucky in 1790. He had a family of ten sons and daughters, all who settled in Pendleton County and raised their families here. His grave in the Bonar Cemetery was marked by the Daughter's of the American Revolution in 1937.
