Gaston was the son of Stephen and Margaret Sampson Carter.

He married Queenie Jones on Oct. 16, 1902 in Lumberton, NC.

The following was taken from the Jul. 15, 1966 edition of THE ROBESONIAN:

Funeral services for Gaston Carter, 91, of Lumberton Rt. 3, who died at his home Thursday morning, will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at New Point Baptist Church. The Rev. Sanford Locklear will officiated assisted by the Rev. Carles Maynor and the Rev. King Maynor. Burial will be in St. Anna Cemetery.

The body will lie at Stephens Funeral Home until one hour prior to the services.

He is survived by a son, Weldon Carter of Fairmont; four daughters, Mrs. Maggie Carter and Mrs. Narnia Carter, both of the home, Mrs. Lula Oxendine at Rowland Rt. 1, and Mrs. Lela Clark of Lumberton; a sister, Mrs. Lillie Williamson, of Fairmont; 13 grandchildren; and 41 great-grandchildren.

• **NOTE: His brothers, Edward Carter and Robert Carter, are buried at Reedy Branch Baptist in Fairmont, NC. His maternal grandparents, Henry H. and Nancy Carter Sampson, are buried at Deep Branch Baptist in Lumberton, NC.
