Gatien Chouinard

The oldest notarial deed retrieved for the grandfather is dated January 5, 1631 at the registry of master René Fermé. He established a lease agreement at the Berton Mill between the owner, Antoine Rancher, Sieur de la Foucaudière, and Gatien Chouinard, miller. The whole mill with its main building, its outbuildings and outbuildings, including stable and barn, was part of the lease; the transaction required the residence of the miller and his family.
