Gayland "Bob" Brodal, 66, Brainerd, died Thursday, Feb. 10, 2000, at St. Joseph's Medical Center in Brainerd.
He was born June 16, 1933, in Brocket, N.D., to Ole and Ragna (Nelson) Brodal. He grew up and attended school in North Dakota. He attended Valley City State College, where he earned his master's degree in business administration. He served with the Air Force and the Army during the Korean War and World War II in Germany. He earned the Occupation Medal with clasp while in Germany and the National Defense Service Medal. He lived in various parts of the United States before moving to Brainerd. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church, VFW, American Legion and Eagles, all of Brainerd.
Survivors include two sons, Bryan A. Brodal and David R. Brodal, both of Brainerd; two daughters, Debra Ilic, Palmdale, Calif., and Holly Brodal, Brainerd; a sister, Ann Bro, Eagan; two brothers, Conrad Brodal, LaMoure, N.D., and Norman S. Brodal, Mesa, Ariz.; 10 grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.
