About Gayle Arnon
Gayle Arnon, of Merion Station, passed away on April 9, after a long illness.
Gayle was born and raised in Philadelphia, and she lived in San Diego for 14 years before returning to the Philadelphia area in 1985. She always loved teaching and was a dedicated and compassionate educator. She was an elementary school teacher for 20 years. She attended graduate school at Cabrini College while working full time, and earned her Master’s degree and Reading Specialist certification.
In 2000, she started her own tutoring business, the Reading Learning Center in Ardmore. At first she taught only a handful of kids, but by 2012 the business employed three other tutors and served dozens of students.
Gayle belonged to the Philadelphia Writing Project, International Reading Association, and National Council of Teachers of English.
She also enjoyed travel and kickboxing.
Gayle is survived by her husband of 25 years, Jonathan Arnon; son and daughter-in-law, David and Sarah Rosenberg of Swarthmore; grandchildren Maya, Tobey and Jude Rosenberg; stepson Jacob Arnon of Wynnewood; brother and sister-in-law, Mark and Carol Segal of Downingtown; brother-in-law and sister-in law, Michael and Wendy Arnon of New York City; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jack and Cindy Rosenberg of Mesa, Ariz.
Gayle was laid to rest next to her parents, Joseph and Ida Segal.
