George Campbell of Cessnock. elder, here treated, is noticed on 6 October 1484, as a member of an assize which returned Thomas Kennedy as heir to his deceased father, Gilbert Kennedy of Bargany. NRS: GD109/780 He is noticed again on 25 February 1490, in the witness list of a charter made in favour of William Schaw of Polkamet and his wife Margaret Campbell. RMS 1424-1513: charter number 2315

Death

George Campbell of Cessnock, elder, here treated, died before 29 April 1508, the date upon which James IV, King of Scots, exempted his son George from paying the relief due for the lands of Cessnock following the death of his father. RSSRS 1488-1529: entry number 1663
