George Andrew Cloud, Sr

George Andrew Cloud, Sr. was the son of Hiram Osborne and Nancy Gibson. His original surname was Osborne, but he changed it to Cloud for personal reasons. He changed his name to Cloud when he worked for a childless couple who asked him to change to their name and they would let him inherit their place - no papers were ever drawn up and he did not inherit the property. By then he had used the name for some time and did not change it back to Osborne.

He was George Washington Osborne, a Private in Company "G" of the 3rd Michigan Cavalry, Union from Green, Arkansas during the Civil War. He and his brother, Thomas D. Osborne, both served in the same unit during the War.
