About George Cranmer Kenrick, Sir
An immigrant from England and Australia, who made it big in Chile importing coal and providing port services. He hosted the explorer Earnest Shackleton in his home. He made it to knighthood for spying on the Germans and was an avid horse breeder. He married off his son to an important and old family in Chile, and produced horses which won the Copa del Mercurio multiple times. He began to compete with the Chilean (British) economic establishment soon after his arrival to Valparaiso in the early part of the 1890´s.
