George W. Exley, 86, died at his home at Knox R. D. 3 on Thursday afternoon, March 12, (1942) following an extended illness.
He was born at Dutch Hill, Forest county, on, Nov. 28, 1855, a son of Godfrey and Barbara Exley. He spent the greater part of his life in the Knox section and was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, near Knox.
He is survived by his wife and the following children: Mrs. W. G. Henton and Mrs. Lee Garris, Youngsville; Mrs. Kermit Switzer, Seattle, Wash.; Mrs. Goldie Mays, Knox; Clara Exley, at home; Clem and William Exley, of Franklin; Fred, Rollin and Harvey Exley, Knox, R. D. He also leaves two sisters, Mrs. John Berlin, Knox, R. D., and Mrs. Frank Updyke, of Homer City.
Funeral services were held in St. Paul's Lutheran church near Knox at 4 o'clock Sunday afternoon. Rev. C. T. Hays officiated and interment took place in the church cemetery.
