George Fairbrother Snr was a Convict sent to Australia After the Third Fleet.
George Fairbrother was born about 1808, it is expected in Ireland. ??
George was tried and convicted on 23rd December 1824 in Dublin, Ireland, for stealing lead. He was sentenced to transportation to New South Wales for seven years; sailing aboard the Sir Godfrey Webster, sailed 11th July 1825 and arrived at Port Jackson on 3rd January 1826.
Upon arrival, he was assigned as a shepherd to Sutton Forest landholder, William Cordeaux (after whom the nearby Cordeaux Dam is named), who held 1,500 acres and owned 1,200 sheep and 200 cows.[1] His Certificate of Freedom was issued on 23rd December 1831, upon completion of his seven year sentence.
George married Mary Smyth on 10th July 1843 in All Saints Church of England, Sutton Forest, New South Wales.[2] They raised a family of five children.
