About George Field
George enlisted Jan. 1, 1777 in Woodbury, Ct. Served until 1783 in the Revolutionary War. He was in the battles of Ft. Mifflin, Stoney Point, at capture of General Cornwallis. He enlisted for the duration of the war in Capt. Robertson's Comp. 1st Connecticut Regiment, Col. Zebulon Butler, Commander.
Later he was in Stoddard's Company in Col. John Chandler's Reg't. He was paid in land in Vermont and moved to Sangate, Vt.
In 1818 the government granted a pension. Paid $1523.16 and $96 / year. Was discharged by General George Washington in June,1873 at Highways, N.Y.
