George Gillespie, Sr.

George Gillespie, Sr. was born between 1730 and 1735 in Virginia, or perhaps, Ireland.

George Gillespie, Sr. married first to Mary Moore about 1752, some suggest 1760, probably in Albemarle County, Virginia. They had twelve children.

George Gillespie, Sr. married second to widow Mary Ann "Mollie" Saunders Faris/Farris on December 26, 1785 in Louisa County, Virginia. They had no children.

George Gillespie, Sr. was buried at the foot of Little Friar Mountain, Piney River Valley in Amherst County, Virginia. According to other researchers, there is no gravestone and the grave has been plowed over.
