8 July 1528: Instrument narrating that John Lokart of Bar .......... gave to his children underwritten for their natural portions, namely, Andrew Lokart, Hugh Lokart, James Lokart and John Lokart, younger, to each of them 50 merks, and to Eufamia Lokart and Katrine Lokart, 160 merks, equally to be divided .......... He named Jonet Lokart, his daughter, to be his lawful assignee to the ward and non-entry of the lands of Drumclog and Byrntstab .......... Item, he gives to George Lokart his son, born between him and jonet Mur, 72 merks money .......... Item, he gives to John Lokart, his son and heir, and assignees, the remainder of his dowry due by Dame Margaret Boid of Rowallane .......... 6 July 1562: Charter by George Kennedy of Balmaclanothan and Janet Kennedy his wife (See GD25/1/570 ) to George Lockhart burgess of Ayr brother of John Lockhart of Bar, by which for a certain sum of money, they dispone to the said George Lockhart his heirs and assignees, the 6 merk land of Auchaltan and Glenalloway, lying in the Earldom of Carrick, To be holden of the Queen and her successors, Princes and Stewarts of Scotland, for service of ward and relief only. 7 July 1562: Assignation by George Kennedy of Balmaclanothan and Janet Kennedy his wife, to George Lockhart burgess of Ayr, of a Letter of Reversion, granted to them the said George and Janet Kennedys their heirs and assignees by the deceased John Kennedy in Greenan, for redeeming from him the said John Kennedy, the 20 shilling land of Glenalloway, and half merk land of Knockingilloch, lying in the Earldom of Carrick, containing the sum of 200 merks money of Scotland, and which Assignation the said George and Janet Kennedys grant in implement of a Contract entered into between them and the said George Lockhart, dated at Balmaclanothan 6th July then instant - With power to the said George Lockhart, to redeem the said lands of Glenalloway and Knockingilloch, and in order thereto to call and pursue John Kennedy son and heir of the said deceased John Kennedy for exhibition and delivery of the said Letter of Reversion or any other person haver thereof Witnesses - William Lockhart burgess of Ayr brother of the said George Lockhart and John Makilvan. 12 February 1580: Contract between Thomas Kennedy of Culean Tutor of Cassillis and Elizabeth Makgill his wife on the one part, and George Lockhart burgess of Ayr on the other part bearing that the said George Lockhart shall infeft the said Thomas Kennedy and his wife their heirs and assignees in the 40 shilling land of Glenalloway and 40 shilling land of Auchaltan lying contiguous, within the Earldom of Carrick but redeemable upon the said George Lockhart making payment to them within the Church of Mayboll of the sum of 2000 merks money of this Realm, and they on the other hand to grant a Letter of Reversion declaring the same redeemable upon payment of the said sum. As also to grant a Letter of Assedation of the said lands of Glenalloway and Auchaltan to the said Geo. Lockhart during the not redemption for payment yearly of 200 merks at the terms of Whitsunday and Martinmas by equal portions Witnesses Mr David Makgill of Nisbet Advocate, Robert Cathcart his servant and Gilbert Kennedy servant to the Tutor of Cassillis.
