I have found a passenger list that states: 8th month 31, 1683, Thomas Cooper, master. George and Ellinor Painter and children: Susan and George Jannet Umphries its web address is: http://www.ralstongenealogy.com/sislist.htm#thirty5

While it does not include a child named John or Jonathan, it is possible he was born after his parents landed. However, the date given for George Painter's birth is 1683. George obviously did not marry and have children in his first year! Nevertheless, it's an interesting coincidence at the least, and perhaps there is another generation or a discrepancy in dates not taken into account.
