In 1917 George was 26. He was a 2nd Lieutenant in the 17th Infantry, with Pershing in Mexico.
Graduated from Amherst High, Mass Agricultural College, and the School for Constabulary Officers in the Philippines. Appointed into the Army by examination in 1914 - passed 2nd out of 87.

Geroge was a Major in the 90th Division, 165th Field Artillary Brigade. 343d Field Artillary, Commanding the 2nd Battlion.

The Division was formed on August 25,1917 at Camp Travis Texas. The book recounts the division's battles in Europe, but makes no other specific mention of Georege.
George spent the years after his service in a Veterans Psychiatric Hospital. George is buried with his parents in the "Peoples Cemetery"in Chatham Mass. Karen Sims has his flag.
