George Scroggin, Sr.

The records have a discrepency for his birthdate and location. One says Charles, Maryland in 1660, and the other says England, 1665. But there is no doubt they are the same person as there are other records that list their children and they are all the same.

Emigrated from England probably about 1680 and settled in Maryland. There are several sources for the lineage of George Scroggins, among them the petition of Alice Katharine Scroggin Anderson for membership in Daughters of Founders and Patriots of America, Vol 27, Pages 141 and 142, cited by Olsen F. Scroggins, Birmingham, Alabama. Anderson's petition traces four generations in agreement with the research of several others and as shown in this genealogy.

George Scrogin, Sr. was born on c. 1660 in England. George married Susanna Lowe on c. 1684 in England and had 6 children: Elizabeth Scrogin, John Scroggin, Mary Scrogin, George Scrogin, II, Susanna Scrogin, and Margaret Scrogin. He passed away on c. 1697 in Charles County, Maryland, United States.
