Notes

George Smith's last name was actually spelled Smyth as shown on a memorial to George Smyth from his descendant, J Savage.

”In honor of Georg Smyth. From London to Massachusetts in 1637 and to New Haven in 1638, A respected member of the United Colonies under Governor Eaton. He died May 17,1662.”

The children of Nehemiah Smith and George Smith of New Haven continue to be disputed. Although some publications show that the 1645 baptism of Sarah's children Mary, Sarah and Elizabeth in Dec 1645 do not specifically say these children were of George or of Nehemiah, all three of these children remained in New Haven to marry there in New Haven and their marriages and records show they are "of New Haven" when they were married to other New Haven Colony residents.

Whereas Nehemiah's family was in New Haven from 1644 to 1649/50 or so, and then the family removed to Long Island, New London and Norwich, CT. Looking at Nehemiah's children: Elizabeth Raymond, Mary Raymond, Nehemiah and Mehitabel, who are not disputed, they all seem to have married and died in the New London area, no New Haven marriages.
