1594: Charter by which James Weir of Blackwood confirms that he has given the lands of Blackwood and others to his grandson George Weir and his future souse Margaret Weir, daughter of Sir William Weir of Stonebyres. The laird of Blackwood had the consent of George Ramsay of Dalhousie and Mariote Ramsay, lady Corehouse, the widow of James Weir of Blackwood, junior, who was now the wife of William Bannatyne of Corehouse. The lands conveyed were to be held by George and Margaret in conjunct fee and heritage, and they were to pass to their heirs make, whom failing to Master William Weir, a younger son of James Weir, senior, and hs heirs.
