About Gerrit Jansz Hardenbergh
He settled in New York before August 1663. He is first mentioned in Albany on Aug. 6, 1663, when he was a witness to a document. In 1672 he owned two lots of land at State St., and North Pearl in Albany. On Dec. 24, 1678 he made his will. In 1687 he appeared to be living in New York.
Jacob Leislar issued a Commission May 1690 making Gerrit Commander of the sloop the Royal Albany and giving him permision to sail for Quebec and attack the French to kill and plunder.
