About Gideon Thomas Macon
Inscription on the grave reads, "A Soldier of the Revolution".
Note: He does not appear in the DAR Database; however, that does not mean that he did not fight. It only means that no direct descendants ever filed for membership in the DAR. On the other hand, he was a Quaker by faith & this inscription could be faith/scripture-based in its meaning.

Gideon Thomas Macon (1765-1829) was a son of John Macon II.
Gideon had 2 marriages.
1st to Mary "Molly" Bowdoin (1766-1810). Married 7/4/1786 in Granville County, NC. 10 children .
2nd to Rebecca Hinshaw (1785-1860). Married 12/24/1812 in Randolph County, NC. 7 children.
Burial in Holly Spring Friends Meeting Cemetery, Ramseur, Randolph County, NC.
