3 June 1741: The Will of David Kennedy, late Captian in the Regiment of Foot now commanded by Colonel Fuller. . . . . . Appoints Mr John Forrest, merchant in Edinburgh & Capt. Alexander Wilson of Westminster as Executors. item; Debts to be paid. Item: Capt. Alexander Wilson £50 owed to him. Item: Elizabeth Kennedy his sister “ready money laying by me”, household furniture and all the monies owed by William Craig of Dreghorn and the arrears of rent owed by tenants of the estate of Craig. all my English books and £100. Item: My watch to Doctor Gilbert Kennedy of Lisburn my brother. Item: Mrs Isabel Lawson relict of Bailes Lawson my half sister and Barbara Lawson her daughter 10 guineas. £10 annuity to Isabel Lawson. Item: John Forrest his lady 20 guineas. His 3 unmarried sisters 10 guineas each. French books pistols and saddles to him. Item: Dr John Clarke physician in Edinburgh 15 guineas. Item: Simon Kinneard his servant £5 yearly plus clothes and horses. Item; stocks of £500 + £2000 to Dr Gilbert Kennedy of Lisbon and William Kennedy of Barbados his brothers. Instructs executors to “lay out upon good land securities in Scotland” and interest to be shared by his brothers. Item: to William Kennedy he gives all the estate belonging to him in the right of the deceased Oliver Kennedy his brother providing William does not engage in any lawsuits regarding that estate and Thomas Findlay. He must drop any further prosecution. Signed at Edinburgh, 3 June 1741. Witnesses: John Stay, Francis Fleming, William Stenry. Proved in Barbados, 16 November 1742.
