Giles Herring, here treated, is said to have married, as her first husband, Sir William of Somerville of Linton and Carnwath. The marriage contact was signed at Cowthally in Lanarkshire on 10 June 1372. Memorie I: 129 Her first husband is reported to have died in about 1400. The Scots Peerage VIII: 6
