George Johnson, farmer, Section 21; P.O. Calamus; born March 25, 1828, near Bergen, Norway; emigrated to the United States in spring of 1853; came to this country and entered 120 acres of land from the Government, where he still lives, adding to it till now he has 605 acres, upon which he built last year one of the best farm houses in the country, costing over $7,000. Married Bertha Christianson in Norway in April, 1853; she was born in April 1831; have nine children -- John D., Berthana, Christie, Elizabeth, Christiana, Bertha M., George, Johanna M. and Christian; lost two -- Bertha M. and Leah. Member of Lutheran Church; Republican.
